David joins call for boarderless continent with latest song dubbed ‘Africa as One'

Ghanaian reggae musician, David Oscar Dogbe, has joined the voices calling for a united Africa amid the ongoing conversation around attacks on African migrants in South Africa.

'Africa as One’ to be released on June 27, 2026, is intended to revive the spirit of Pan-Africanism, aimed at charting a common path to a common identity, self reliance and development.

According to Oscar, the song is both a celebration of African identity and a wake-up call to Africans to reconnect with the philosophies championed by the continent’s liberation leaders and Pan-African thinkers.

In a post he shared on social media ahead of the release, David Oscar said modern Africa must “awaken to the voices of Pan-Africanists whose dreams centered on unity, dignity, self-reliance, and collective progress”.

He stated that despite Africa’s vast human and natural resources, divisions rooted in colonial borders, political conflicts, xenophobia, and economic dependency continue to slow the continent’s advancement.

“The message behind Africa as One is simple. Africa’s strength lies in unity. The voices of Pan-Africanists like Kwame Nkrumah, Thomas Sankara, Julius Nyerere, and Patrice Lumumba should continue to inspire us,” he stressed.

Pan-Africanism has historically promoted African solidarity, political cooperation, economic independence, and cultural pride.

He further stated that the growing push for continental integration through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) headquartered in Accra is one of the major initiative under the AU, aimed at ensuring economic freedom for African states.

It is against this backdrop that David Oscar put together this lyrical composition as a symbolic importance for a continent currently facing challenges that demand renewed solidarity.
